MEET OUR NEWEST  AUTHOR

The SAKLC family has a brand new author in its midst – Pastor Bob Zimmer.  “Dreams Come True:  Memoirs of a Prairie Boy” is hot off the press and tells the life story of one dear to all of us.

 Congratulations, Pastor Bob!

SPECIAL   EVENTS

COMING  UP

FROM THE

CHURCH COUNCIL

Our trusty Allen organ has enhanced the worship life at SAKLC for over 17 years.  Recently, it was determined that the speakers for the organ need to be replaced and several internal problems with the instrument need to be addressed.  A task force will review the merits of repairing or possibly replacing the instrument.  After a thorough and careful study of the situation, a recommendation will be made to the congregation.  Be looking for more details on this matter.

-- Update --

NEW ORGAN APPROVED

At a special congregational meeting, held on Sunday, April 23, 2006, those present enthusiastically approved a recommendation from the Church Council to purchase a new organ for the church.  The recommendation reflected the counsel of the organ committee appointed by the Church Council to review the options available to deal with our ailing organ.

The new instrument, an Allen Renaissance Quantum, 58 stop, three-manual console, has marvelous capabilities and will be a wonderful addition to our worship life and music ministry.

We are deeply grateful to Virginia Toulmin, a faithful member of SAKLC, who generously provided the total cost of the new organ and expenses related to its installation.  Thanks be to God for Virginia’s most thoughtful gift.  Her kindness offers a marvelous witness to her commitment to her Lord and church.

It is envisioned that our new instrument will be in place in September.

To God be the Glory!

APPRECIATION

EXPRESSED

Lenten Wednesday Soup Suppers are a delightful fellowship that is shared by many.  Anna Lee would like to thank all those who provided the delicious desserts each week.  We enjoyed a great barley broccoli cheese soup recipe offered by Ruth Mohlenhoff, Christine Ortiz served her “must have” tortilla soup,  Jackie Whalen prepared a “lick the bowl” for the last drop of split pea soup, and she also provided another recipe for beefy vegetable.  I added “everything left in the fridge” to create surprise soup, which turned out to be a new favorite enjoyed by many.  Preparations on a weekly basis by Dorothy Schaeffer and Donna Olson helped to create the elegant “ambience” for our evening supper.  Without Bob and Marilyn Schmidtke, Anna Lee wouldn’t have made “the time deadline” for serving.  Margo Eagleton was “drying the dishes” each week with a smile.  A tradition of smiling, eating, conversation helped for all of us to enjoy the “season of looking within.”
